The new grommunio.com is live

Launch graphic for the new grommunio.com, with Lighthouse 100/100/100/100 scores in Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO.

Quick announcement, then we’ll let you click around for yourself: grommunio.com has been rebuilt from the ground up. Same content, very different machinery underneath — and we’re genuinely proud of how it turned out.

Why we rewrote it

The old site ran on WordPress. That was the right call in 2021 — the team was small, marketing pages needed to ship fast, and a CMS everyone already knew was the right tool. By 2026 the trade-offs had flipped. Page weights kept creeping up, plugins kept breaking each other, mobile felt slower than it should, and shipping content in more than two or three languages was a project of its own.

So we rebuilt. Every page is now a static HTML file generated at build time and served from a global edge cache in over 300 cities. There is no application request in the hot path anymore. The result is a site that loads in well under a second on a normal connection — and stays that way as content grows.

We didn’t stop at “fast”, though. We had the whole site peer-reviewed for design by independent designers before going live, iterated on the rough edges they flagged, and then tuned it relentlessly for performance. The numbers speak for themselves:

Lighthouse 100 / 100 / 100 / 100 — Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, SEO.

A clean sweep on every metric on the home page and the major landing pages. If you’ve ever spent time wrangling Lighthouse scores, you know how unusual that is. It took deliberate work in every layer: above-the-fold image preloads, pre-compressed Brotli sidecars, opaque sticky tables for mobile, HTTP/3, deferred non-critical scripts, you name it. The pleasant surprise is that the visitor doesn’t have to know any of that — they just notice that everything clicks instantly.

What’s new for you

A few highlights to point at:

  • A brand-new technology page that walks through the architecture, the protocols, the standards we implement, the security posture, and how grommunio fits into a modern operations stack. If you’re evaluating us, this is the page that explains the substance.
  • A TCO calculator on the /exchange-alternative/ page. Pick a competitor, drag the sliders for mailbox count and time horizon, and you’ll see how grommunio compares across Basic, Plus and Business editions — including infrastructure and administration costs, not just licence fees.
  • A capability comparison matrix sitting right below the calculator. Every feature side by side, with the grommunio column pinned next to the feature labels on mobile so the row you’re reading is always next to the comparison.
  • A site search via ⌘K / Ctrl-K on every page — finds blog posts, news, release notes, case studies and the marketing pages by title or body content.
  • 15 languages, all kept current: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Dutch, Polish, Czech, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Japanese and Chinese.

Privacy still matters

We took the opportunity to clean up the analytics stack as well. The site uses our own self-hosted Matomo instance. Cookies are off by default, Do-Not-Track is honoured, and IP addresses are anonymised at collection time. No third-party tracking pixels, no Google Tag Manager, no LinkedIn or Facebook beacons. The cookie banner is correspondingly minimal — there isn’t much to ask consent for.

What’s next

This is the foundation, not the finish line. The team is already working on:

  • A full revamp of the documentation — already well underway, with a much clearer information architecture, a unified search across admin / user / developer docs, copy-paste-friendly examples, and a tighter feedback loop from the support and partner teams into the docs themselves.
  • A security advisories feed so you can subscribe and stay current.
  • A deeper interactive layer on the technology page that we’re not quite ready to talk about yet.

We’d love to hear what you’d like to see — drop us a note via the contact form or one of the social channels in the footer. In the meantime, take a look around and let us know if anything feels off. We’ve tested heavily, but the internet is full of edge cases.

Happy journey through the new site.
