grommunio at Graz Linuxdays 2026

As in previous years, grommunio will once again participate in the Graz Linux Days on April 10 and 11, 2026. At this renowned conference, organized since 2003 by volunteer Linux and open-source enthusiasts at Graz University of Technology, we are happy to once again serve as main sponsor and will be represented with several activities. The Graz Linux Days are Austria’s largest developer and community event; every year, several hundred visitors make their way to the university in Styria.

Graz Linuxdays 2026 - Schedule
GLT 26: Two long days packed with activities, held in seven lecture halls, featuring LPI exams and a coding challenge.

At their campus on Inffeldgasse, the organizers have once again put together an impressive program for seven lecture halls, featuring grommunio with a keynote and workshop by our CTO Michael Kromer, a coding challenge, and a lightning talk. Saturday is all about grommunio: At 10:00 a.m., Michael Kromer’s multi-hour grommunio workshop “Hands-On Digital Sovereignty with grommunio – From the Ground Up” begins, at 1:00 PM, our Open Source Ambassador will share how he helped “hack” the Bavarian state government. And at 5:00 PM, interested attendees can listen to CTO Kromer’s keynote “Bridging Reality: Open Source, Digital Sovereignty. Open Source, Not Open-Washed.”.

Coding Challenge

grommunio will also have its own booth, and a “Coding Challenge” will take place there. Here, computers with a pre-configured setup including VSCode and a C++ compiler, along with a task description and a short programming exercise invite participants to complete. Anyone who finishes within the allotted time can win a prize; if multiple participants succeed, a drawing will be held.

New Version with Lots of Fixes and Features

At the same time, attendees can get a firsthand look at the latest version of grommunio at the workshop and booth—2025 was all about bug fixes and exciting new features. We’ve made significant progress, particularly in customer service and support, and we’re welcoming numerous new team members, without whom it would have been difficult to reduce the number of open tickets from over 450 to under 200.

New Web interface and EWS in Thunderbird

The new web interface with continuously improved accessibility (e.g., Dark Mode) is just as much a testament to grommunio’s innovative strength as the exemplary integration of Exchange Web Services, which now also work flawlessly and intuitively with Thunderbird (version 148 and up).

In terms of security we have integrated Kerberos and many other features, and the german tech magazine IT-Administrator has recently reviewed grommunio 3.3 in a six-page article in its edition 04/26 —which we’re also handing out at our booth.

Come to the Graz Linuxdays, visit our booth and attend our presentations—it’s well worth it. As always, Styria is a destination worth visiting!
